I don't think her posts are rooted in actual harm, it's more of annoyance with the world and dialectical analysis (or whatever is the fancy word) of communist/socialist country attempts. As much harm as an anarchist posting about firebombing the local courthouse or whatever. Great thing about fedi is I can always just cut people out (by blocking them or their instances) that I don't want to see, even if this becomes a "tankie bar", I am the one in control of curating what I see

      Yeah, I'm from a westernized former soviet republic, I know all that. I simply disagree with the idea that banning rancid takes will make this a wholesome place, at best it'll be a hugbox.

      And I don't think it's turning into a tankie bar because, again, I can get rid of the actually harmful ones whenever I want. Genuinely, all that this witch-hunting manages to do is create a feeling that if I post the wrong take suddenly I'll be cut off from everyone because it was too red or whatever.

        @eris banning misleading rancid takes that can cause harm down the line is the point of moderation. tankie takes and e.g. queerphobe takes are on the same playing field here

        + if you'd ban first-hand tankie propaganda (imagine the CCP getting a fedi acct - they'd be fediblocked by everyone and everything in a day (or is this wishful thinking..?)), you should be trying to counteract second-hand tankie propaganda too

          realistically, the first-hand and second-hand propaganda is never gonna reach me, I mean sometimes i get hit with a second-hand from kolektiva.social and I have considered blocking them indeed. Lizzy is pretty far from just spewing propaganda. I don't think she's intentionally trying to mislead. What's her latest "bad take"? "Criticising foreign governments just legitimises your government attacking them"? I mean, it makes sense, I don't like how it sounds at all, but it makes sense, maybe I have only cognitive dissonance from it, or maybe there's some implied parts of it that I disagree with it, but it's a valid thought to think about, if everyone cheers for USA bombing Iran, maybe they'll try Turkey next? [Insert the "Wanna see me do it again?" Spongebob meme.]

          Important part however: did that take say or imply that people who keep criticising foreign governments should be ostracised from society, kicked from IRL meetings, blocked on fedi? Not as far as I saw, that is why, as I said before, I would prefer her on my timeline over you. I don't see any benefits from these crusades aside from cutting off people and pushing them into worse corners of fedi
