                                                            DKIM helps detect if the sender domain is legit, it doesn't help with spam coming from a paypai.com or whatever like that, for that you have reputation rankings for domains and IPs. Getting a VPS has a chance that someone else ruined the allocated IP reputation to the point it's now on a fedi email block list. You can use stuff like https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx to see if an IP is on a list and which company to beg to get it removed

                                                                        If you mean ActivityPub, not really. Closest you could get would be to have a single-user AP server running on your device with a domain name always pointing to it (or a tor onion link or a raw static IP address etc etc), but at that point you can use that strategy to make everything peer-to-peer. Also there would probably be issues with what happens when you go offline -- lost activities and whatnot.
