                                        as everyone else already said, simple integer calculations will likely get folded down when parsing or at least on first execution. if it's too slow, try profiling. try putting it through a minifier/bundler. iirc google closure compiler was a cool thing but idk if it can deal with modules. in any case, this is a very simple optimisation that should be left for tools to do, and leave the source version readable

                                            bro don't micro-optimise. you could save a cycle or two by not using a named constant and hardcoding it as a magic number everywhere. "cycle or two" spent once is inconsequential to the load & parse time
