IIRC they also at least used to check & update tracker cookies to see how human (read: marketable) your habits are. But the crypto shit that is being done by some (like anubis or maybe cloudflare's heavier settings) doesn't have a cryptocurrency attached to it, it's literally just wasting energy (tho I think the pirate bay once tried adding a monero javascript miner, so it isn't impossible)

they finally made screens in thinkpads to be nice in 2021, but removed a possibility of upgrading ram, so all my interest went to shit
