that's the tumblr approach: you tag stuff with topics (potentially disturbing to some) and people can choose to filter or hide the ones they don't want to see or that they're tired of filling the entire timeline

yes but it kinda ends up being a case of everyone having to agree to the same things being potentially triggering. It's nice that it essentially creates a "filtered by default" but that's about the only thing it's got going. Tagging is far from perfect as well, eg, a morbillion different ways of labelling the same thing, i'm not saying one is better than the other
